Other dependent students

Another dependent student is someone your parents financially support who:

• is aged 16-23 on 1 January in the year you apply for a Student Allowance. This means they must already be 16 on 1 January, not turning 16 on 1 January.
• is studying full-time in New Zealand at secondary school or an approved education provider
• your parents don't get a Work and Income Orphans or Unsupported Child's Benefit for.
