Change address, housing costs or contact details
If you're moving house, your accommodation costs have changed, or you're changing your contact details, you need to tell us straight away as it could affect your payments.
Getting Student Loan, Student Allowance or scholarship
You can update your address and contact details online, in MyStudyLink in the 'Personal details' section.
If your accommodation costs have changed (for example rent or board), you don't need to tell us unless you're a sole parent. If you're a sole parent you can update your accommodation costs online, in MyStudyLink, in the 'Personal details' section. You may have to give us evidence of this. We'll let you know when you update your details.
Getting any other payment (for example Accommodation Supplement or Income Relief Payment)
Email us or call us to update your address and contact details if you're getting another payment.
If your accommodation costs have changed (for example rent or board), you may have to give us evidence of this. We'll let you know when you contact us.
Student Allowance
If you're getting a Student Allowance and your living situation has changed (for example you're now living with your parents), it could affect your payment. If you're getting an Accommodation Benefit, this payment could also be affected.
If you're a sole parent and your accommodation costs (for example rent or board) have changed, it could also affect your Accommodation Benefit.
You can check what your next payment will be online, in MyStudyLink, under 'Payment information'.
Student Loan living costs
If your Student Allowance payment is affected, the amount you can get for living costs will also change.
This is because your Student Loan living costs are automatically reduced by the amount of Student Allowance you get.
Example
You're getting weekly living costs payments of $316.39. If you get $200 a week for a Student Allowance, you'll only be able to get $116.39 for living costs, to make up a total of $316.39.
If, when you change address, your Student Allowance goes up to $220 a week because you're not living with your parents anymore, your living costs payment will be automatically adjusted to $96.39.
Getting other payments
If your accommodation costs have changed, the amount you get may need to be adjusted.
All our payments are made a week in arrears. This means that if the change has affected your payment, the new amount will be paid to you a week after the change is made.
